Avident Health Awarded NIH Grant to Scale AI-Powered Oncology Adherence Platform
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Avident Health today announced it has been awarded a prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant to expand the MyNavigator Platform (MNP) — its HIPAA-compliant digital health solution designed to improve treatment adherence for cancer patients on oral oncology therapies.
The funding will accelerate deployment of MNP across health systems serving Medicaid and Medicare Advantage populations — communities disproportionately affected by the oral oncology nonadherence crisis. Studies show that nearly 48% of patients on oral cancer therapies become nonadherent within six months, leading to avoidable hospitalizations, disease recurrence, and increased mortality.
"This grant validates what our clinical partners have seen firsthand — that real-time monitoring, literacy-adaptive education, and caregiver integration can meaningfully move the needle on adherence," said Dr. Biplov Bhandari, Chief Science Officer at Avident Health. "We are now positioned to bring this solution to the patients who need it most."
The MyNavigator Platform uniquely integrates Informal Cancer Caregiver (ICC) support alongside patient-facing tools — addressing a critical gap in existing digital health solutions. With AI-enabled, multimodal education and proactive symptom alerts, MNP is designed to empower the full care circle around each patient.
The grant period spans 24 months and will support clinical validation studies, platform enhancements, and partnerships with academic medical centers across three states. Results from the funded research are expected to contribute to a growing body of real-world evidence supporting AI-assisted adherence interventions in oncology.
